A state-of-the-art training facility for Network Rail including staff and student facilities and amenities.
An 8m tall entrance clad totem signpost ‘fin’ allows ease of way-finding. Applying fast-track steel frame standards and low depth raft foundation meant this project was completed and occupied within 12 months. By designing out complicated roof penetrators (natural ventilation ‘chimneys’ which had poor performance in true use) a more cost effective VRV air conditioning system was applied for a comfortable classroom environment, the project was value engineered to deliver the client’s brief but save 15% less on CAPEX build costs than previous versions.
